Originally from the UK, I gained a veterinary degree from the University of Illinois in 1995. Prior to this, I studied Geography and Botany and taught high school in the UK and Italy. After a small animal internship at the Animal Medical Centre in New York City and then general veterinary practice in San Francisco, I completed a residency in Comparative Veterinary Ophthalmology at UC Davis. I became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2001 and of the ECVO in 2006. Following positions as Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School and the Royal Veterinary College, I spent eight years in multispecialty practice in Surrey, UK. In 2014, I moved back to the US and private practice in New York City. Since 2015 I been a member of the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School. I am currently Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology, Head of the Clinical Ophthalmology Service at Ryan Hospital and Residency Program Director. In July 2022, I take over as Chair of the ABVO Examination Committee.
