My name is Francisco Cantero, and I graduated from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in 2003. I then completed a one-year rotating internship (2003–2004) at the Sierra de Madrid Veterinary Hospital, where I developed a strong interest in veterinary ophthalmology. After several years in general practice, I completed a Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2008. I also undertook several clinical externships in the UK and participated in multiple CPD courses in this field. I subsequently spent several years working in first-opinion ophthalmology, gaining extensive clinical experience and becoming a member of various ophthalmology working groups. From 2018 to 2021, I completed an ECVO residency at the Autonomous University of Barcelona under the supervision of Dr. Marta Leiva and Dr. Teresa Peña, and I obtained my Diplomate status in 2023. I currently work as an ophthalmology specialist at Anicura Ars Veterinaria in Barcelona. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary ophthalmology, but have a special interest in corneal diseases, glaucoma and cataract surgery. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, skiing, and scuba diving. I am also a big fan of escape rooms and roller coasters.
