After graduating from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Free University of Berlin in 2014, Klaas-Ole completed an equine rotating internship at the University of Veterinary Medicine of Vienna. During this time he developed a particular passion for ophthalmology and subsequently prepared his doctoral thesis on ocular contrast-enhanced ultrasonography in dogs and horses. Klaas-Ole commenced the residency programme in comparative veterinary ophthalmology at Vienna’s service and successfully passed his ECVO diploma exams in 2021. He worked for one year as ophthalmology specialist at Tierklinik Rostock and simultaneously started as head of the ophthalmology department at AniCura Tierärztliche Spezialisten Hamburg and continued in this position for five years. Currently Klaas-Ole works part-time as senior clinician in small animal ophthalmology at Tierklinik Neustädter Bucht. His main professional engagement is equine ophthalmology - Klaas-Ole performs consults and surgeries in horses at Pferdeklinik Bargteheide, Tierklinik Lüsche im SANAKENA and Pferdeklinik Wahlstedt. He is a member of the IEOC since 2017 and supervises certain ECVO residents in equine ophthalmology.
