Tony Read is a graduate of the University of Sydney Veterinary School. After several years in mixed general practice in Australia, Dr Read commenced specialising in Veterinary Ophthalmology in the United Kingdom. He completed a residency in Veterinary Ophthalmology at the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket and then ran a referral service in Wimbledon, London. Dr Read returned to Australia in 1996 to establish Veterinary Ophthalmic Referrals in Adelaide, South Australia. Since 2024 he has been based in Cairns, Queensland devoting most of his time to Specialist Eye Vet – NQ, a visiting service to the larger regional centres of North Queensland. Dr Read became Diplomate of the ECVO in 1997 and also has British and Australian specialist qualifications in Veterinary Ophthalmology.
